THE DARK HORSE BAND
About Us

Keith Wilson

Keith is the newest official member of The Dark Horse Band but is by no means "new".  He has actually been playing with us for a number of years behind the scenes for some time...because at the time he started with us, he was too young to get into bars!  Keith is a classically trained musician who started on keys and has played a number of instruments in concert bands throughout his college years.  But his first love is bass guitar, since the days he took his first bass lessons from our own lead guitar player, Lee Meacham, down at the old Gemini Music store in downtown Fairmont.  When Dark Horse's previous bass player decided to retire from the stage, Keith immediately came to mind as a logical replacement.  He has managed to step into some pretty big shoes with some big feet of his own.  (You ladies know what big feet mean!)   This dude can play anything from blues to rock to funk and is game for just about anything.  Keith's enthusiasm and passion for music  is very contagious and he has an incredible work ethic to be the best.

Steve "Jabby" Jablinske

Jabby has been a sought out drummer in the local music scene since the late 70's, playing in area bands such as Karma, The Presence, Bandana, and The Crayz to name a few.  He has been playing with our lead guitarist, Lee Meacham off and on since their high school years and their musical chemistry is clearly evident.  Having played just about every venue from small bars to giant ballrooms within a 250 mile radius, Jabby knows what the crowds want to hear.  No one plays with as much power and passion!  From his Ludwig John Bonham reissue kit, you would swear Bonham himself is behind the set again!  Influences from some of rock's greatest drum legends can be heard combined with Jabby's own unique style for an incredible classic rock experience.

Lee "Meach" Meacham
Lee Meacham has been playing in area bands since the late 70's and has opened for some very big names in the music business including Tedd Nugent, Head East, Brownsville Station, Steppenwolf, and many others.  His playing style is heavily influenced by Billy Gibbons (ZZ Topp), Eric Clapton, Gary Rossington and Allen Collins (Lynryrd Skynryrd), and Gary Moore (Thin Lizzie) to name a few.  Lee has the rare gift of playing extremely tasty and melodic leads and  his leadership on stage makes everyone around him sound their very best.  He has a keen ear for tone and is able to capture a unique pallet of sounds from some of rock's best guitar talent.  If there's a classic song out there, Lee has usually played it and/or taught it.  He maintains a busy teaching schedule to pass along the thrill of playing to the next generation of rockers!  Many of our local guitar talent learned their first licks from Lee down at the old Gemeni Music store.

Michael "Doc" Clancey
"Doc" really is a doctor.  When he is not playing music, he maintains a busy chiropractic office in Fairmont, Minnesota.  He got his start playing in bands as a "paying hobby" back in his chiropractic college days in the early 80's in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.  Some of his past bands include The Brass Bullet Band and Company's Comin' until joining up with Lee and Jabby in Bandana back in the early 90's.  He enjoys lots of different music and is heavily influenced by Bob Seger, Ronnie Van Zant, Danny Joe Brown, and some of the more "raspy" sounding rockers of the 70's and 80's.  You are sure to enjoy his powerful vocals and passionate delivery!

Dan Warner

The man responsible for what you hear out front.  From the first night he ran sound for us at Buster's in Mankato, his knowledge and talent for all things sound related was readily apparent.  To say that Dan has drastically improved the quality of our sound would be a major understatement.  From gear purchase advice, to setting everything up, to chasing down gremlins, and packing it back away at the end of the night, Dan is the very best there is.  Having Dan at the helm makes for a worry-free night for the guys on stage.  He has a passion for making things sound "just right", like it was being played on a quality stereo at home.  When he isn't behind the board for The Dark Horse Band, Dan is the owner of Stage 1 Sound in Blue Earth, providing the best DJ services in the area.  When not engaged in the music world, he makes his living as a Master Electrician for Retrofit Companies in Owatonna.
